( Kate, in typical fashion, doesn't announce hey, I've moved, come check out my new place with actual words. No, that'd be way too easy.
Instead, she sends Rei an address sans any context. If he looks it up, he might notice a couple of things: one, that it's a tall block of flats, recently built, and two, that it's in a nice district of Camelot. )
( The truth is, well... She's more of a saver than her drinking habits would suggest. Long given over to habitually squirrelling away money for her brother, to make sure he didn't have to worry about overdrafts and part time jobs at university. Habits that carried over well into their careers, well into Avalon.
And then the idiot decided to go and die. So... What's she going to do with the cash she saved here, the just in case fund so he could set himself up in Avalon without having to faff around?
Apparently use it to fund a second business and a move, because it's not like it has any use just sitting in her bank account now. And these flats are pretty nice — far more secure than the little studio above the coffee shop, with intercoms that prove he doesn't need to worry about picking any locks (not that there is one, it's all smart access systems here bb) when he reaches the north-west corner of the top floor and the door swings open.
... To absolutely no one there, because Kate is currently in the middle of pouring coffees into mugs at the kitchen counter, letting him in with a quick twitch of kinetic magic. )
Milk, sugar?
( She does actually have both even though she considers both an abomination in coffee. )
[Rei makes himself as comfortable as he usually does, quite obviously staring around the place as he steps into the kitchen. Hmm, hmm. How interesting, how interesting.
He slides into a seat like he's fully expecting to be served.]
( What, no "I'm sweet enough" joke? Rei. You're losing dad cred.
And, look, she will actually serve him. She was brought up with enough manners to know how to serve a cup of tea (or, well, in this case...). )
Was feeling small.
( Was broken into at least once by pissed off gang members! Ergo, the good security. And, besides... )
Thought I'd find somewhere to settle down.
( That was one thing about that old place: even when it started getting bits and pieces of personal effects added to it, it always felt like it could be left at any moment.
This? Not so much. Even despite the fact that the furniture currently inside it is clearly designed for her older, smaller place. )

[and then, of course, he's coming to check it out. Hopefully she's home, or else he'll have to start employing Sasara's B&E influence. KNOCK KNOCK]

Black's fine.

So? You get bored of the old flat?

But of course neither of them are very straightforward with serious things, so Rei says:]
Invite me over for interior decoration advice? Looks like you'll need it.

And make my home look like a cheap casino?
( Maybe she was feeling sentimental and you ruined it, old man. )

It's at least an expensive one.
[He takes a long sip from his mug. When he puts it down again, his comedic irritation has dropped, leaving only the fondness.]
Good to see you putting down some roots. [Genuinely.]
shh i'm working, definitely working
She does as she so often does, settling onto the countertop like it's a chair and nursing her coffee with slow sips, legs swinging idly. )
... Not where I thought I would.
( But there's a weight from her shoulders nonetheless. A lightness which comes with making this decision which seems so foreign to her.
Relief. Real, lasting relief. Not just the temporary hit of adrenaline that comes after surviving a fight, but something deeper and more calming. )
Guess this place weren't so bad after all.
( If she's choosing to stay. )
